Is it worth buying a POCO X4 Pro in 2024?
At the beginning of 2022, one of the world’s leading Chinese phone manufacturers surprised us with the launch of the POCO X4 Pro . This mid-range mobile device features an attractive design, a large screen and a very light body.
The POCO X4 Pro is nice to look at and easy to hold. Although it needs improvement in some aspects, in general it is an excellent device. This mid-range smartphone launched by the Chinese multinational Xiaomi has an initial retail price of $320 and comes with some interesting features. So, is it worth buying a POCO X4 in 2024? Let’s find out in this review.
Design and visualization

As for photographs, the POCO X4 includes three camera sensors on the rear, consisting of a 64MP primary sensor, with a wide-angle lens with f/1.9 aperture and PDAF. The secondary camera comes with 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, while the tertiary camera is a 2MP sensor with wide-angle macro lens.
The rear camera has functions such as LED flash, panoramic, HDR. And that’s not all! It can record videos in 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/60fps. On the front, the POCO X4 Pro has a 20MP sensor with a wide-angle lens with f/2.5 aperture to take your selfies in the best quality.
The location of the buttons is the same as on most smartphones : the power and volume buttons are on the right side, while the USB-C port is located on the bottom next to the audio output.

The POCO X4 Pro features a 6.67-inch Full-HD Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution and 407 PPI density. Support for 120Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate is truly impressive for this price range, ensuring maximum performance and smoother, silkier visuals.
With the POCO X4 Pro you can get the most out of the use of its screen in live broadcasts, video games and heavy applications, it has a pixel density of 407 ppi. As for screen protection, it has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 incorporated.
The fingerprint reader is located on the right side of the phone, and comes along with a support for Face Unlock. On the other hand, the earpiece works as a second speaker, so you get true stereo sound.
This almost perfect mix of specifications makes the Poco X4 Pro an excellent smartphone with good strength and durability. The size of the screen is perfect for playing video games and watching movies and series, and the technologies integrated into this screen make this mobile device perfect for day-to-day use.
Battery duration
The POCO X4 Pro has a built-in 5000 mAh battery. You can feel the difference in terms of battery life with other competing devices, this smartphone ensures use of around 36 hours.

The apps we used during testing include Spotify, HBO Max, Youtube, and Summoners wars. On the days when I only used my smartphone to receive calls I was able to notice that it lasted practically two days, but during constant use the performance reached at most the end of the afternoon with 40% battery.
The POCO X4 Pro’s 65W charger can go from 0 to 100% in just 45 minutes with its fast charging.
POCO X4 Pro performance
The POCO X4 pro comes equipped with the high-speed 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor and has a better CPU than the Poco behind the 860 chip. However, this is not to say that Qualcomm’s new 695 chip in the Poco X4 Pro is not as capable as the 860 chip.
During its use we had excellent results, not only because of its processor, but also because of the 8 GB of RAM capacity and the 128 GB of storage capacity.
The 120Hz screen shows optimal performance, especially if you browse a lot on social networks, you will notice that everything seems more fluid. As for gaming, the default settings easily held up to games like Genshin Impact and Summoners Wars.
After a gaming session the back of the device will get a little warm, but it’s no reason to stop playing and performance won’t be affected, which is fantastic. On the front, the device can also get a little warm, but luckily it is still usable.
During streaming and multitasking, the experience is excellent, whether due to the image quality or fluidity of the device. Apps take almost no time to open, animations don’t crash, and you have access to the full range of apps on Playstore.
Interface and operating system
The POCO X4 pro runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 12, with POCO Launcher 2.0 on top. However, for the most demanding users, tech giant Xiaomi is expected to soon release an OTA update for this device. For now, we are happy that the company has already confirmed an Android-based update.
If you are looking for a device that provides an excellent user experience, the POCO X4 Pro is an excellent option, the Android 12 offers clean navigation and is characterized by having an intuitive and friendly interface. Its use is simple and thanks to the new functions of Android 12, it allows you to natively customize the colors, formats and many other details of the system.
And that’s not all! The POCO X4 Pro has surprised us with unique features. Among the most notable are gesture controls, so you can shake your smartphone twice to turn the flashlight on or off, or twist your wrist twice to open the camera.
Additional data
Regarding audio, the device includes powerful stereo speakers and yes, it works like a charm. When watching a series or starting to enjoy our favorite video games, stereo audio will make a difference. This does not mean that the audio is perfect, but that it is on the right track and it is good to see more and more devices with that sound quality.
The POCO X4 Pro is not waterproof. It is true that it comes with the «water-repellent» label, which means that it can withstand light Winter rains, but it is not enough to save it from total immersion in the pool or the sea.
Final verdict
Considering the pros and cons, we think the POCO X4 Pro is worth buying in 2024. The hardware and software are durable enough to be on par with other mid-range devices. There is also POCO X4 Pro’s promise to release system updates and software patches in the future.
The Poco _ However, that is not the case when it comes to the camera. In fact, the Redmi Note 10 outperforms the X4 Pro’s camera even though it costs less.

Before purchasing the POCO X4 Pro, it is important to consider all the options and features of the competitors that are in the same price range. If you want a powerful camera or a high-performance gaming device with ultra-fast charging it’s worth it.
